The famous and kick-ass Swedish rock band formed in Jönköping, Sweden, in 1992, by guitarist Peter Svensson, bassist Magnus Sveningsson, drummer Bengt Lagerberg, keyboardist Lars-Olof Johansson and lead singer Nina Persson. (Nina’s powerful voice took my brain by storm) The group delivered great classic rock songs throughout the 90’s. Playing their music on a quite Sunday night often produced feelings of joy, happiness, sadness and melancholia, “in a good way”. If you know what I mean.
Their debut album “Emmerdale” released in 1994 gave them some success abroad. But it was not until their second album “Life” released in 1995 that an international reputation was completely obtained. The group’s popularity rose when their single “Lovefool”, from the album “First Band on the Moon” from 1996 was included in the soundtrack of the film: William Shakespeare’s Romeo + Juliet. (which confused the audience by using book-wording, the movie of course not the song) Other singles included “Erase and Rewind” (which I love, BTW, both the lyrics and the stunning video) and “My Favourite Game” from the hit album “Gran Turismo” released in 1998. I will never forget watching MTV at night and recalling when “My Favourite Game” was censored by the station for showing reckless driving. Anyway, After a five-year break-up the band returned with “Long Gone Before Daylight” in 2003; a mellow country record. Three years after a 2006 tour, the band embarked on a very long five-year break from musical activities, (once again), before reuniting in 2012 to play several concerts.
So far, there are no new updates regarding the band or any upcoming albums or shows. Hopefully “they will change their mind” and will come back on scene stronger than ever to make us feel that great 90’s soft rock vibe all over again.
